I'd assign start universes also, that always saves trouble later for me, just go 1000, 2000, 3000, ... and then they'll never hit each other, and you only have to upload the controller that you adjust if you change things.

Should I do that in the Hinks Pix config or in Xlights or both? And should I do 1000 for Hinks, 2000 for AlphaPix, 3000 for DigQuad, etcI'd assign start universes also, that always saves trouble later for me, just go 1000, 2000, 3000, ... and then they'll never hit each other, and you only have to upload the controller that you adjust if you change things.
I would. Letting xLights do it just makes it a lot easier.I've never used the "Upload to Controller" feature in xLights. I've always just set the controller up, then added it. Is that safe to do for all of my controller brands once I've got it all set up in xLights?
I have 10+ HinksPix and a couple dozen other things in my layout and couldn't imagine the pain of doing it any other way than upload from xLights. I made the mistake of trying to follow the advice on HolidayCoro website videos. Don't watch those, do this instead:HinksPix config seems very finicky to begin with, so uploading to it from xLights scares me.

TLDR/TLDW: Set "Universe Per String" since you have smart receivers, hit upload, and win.
