Unable to highlight individual effect

Hi, silly question, but i've opened a sequence and i can't highlight an individual effect with the cursor, when i try to do this i highlight the whole row. I can copy and paste using control but then i can't place the effect where i want it. Obviously i've stuffed the settings somewhere but i can't find where to change it back (as other sequences i can do this). Any help would be appreciated

Did you open it by double clicking the package esqz for the sequence? If so, it only opens in read only mode. I would recommend changing the extension to zip, extracting it and then opening the sequence from the new directory.

Make sure no timing tracks are selected. If a radio button is filled click it until they are all clear. This changes the way effect selection works quite a lot.

Thanks, the lyric track was selected, as soon as i turned that off it went back to normal, thanks again.
