hey guys after some inspiration..

what's your best cheapest feature of your show that seems to wow the crowd even though it probably shouldn't..

also is the a poor mans moving heads? i don't need to be talking to mars with my light show but id be interested in maybe some smaller lasers that could dance and be pointed to my drive way..

also curious as to how you've introduced bubbles-snow-smoke machines into your show

I have a snow machine and bubble machine for my show.
The kids love both.
Kmart bubble liquid starts to add in cost... I use nearly 1L per night. Snow liquid I'll use 6-15L a night and I make my own to save costs.
Bubble's are easiest. Snow machines make a lot of noise.

the bubble liquid costs are low compared to pixel capital cost (controller/coro/pixels/power supplies/enclosures etc etc etc)

I'll second Daryl's comments -- The lights and music are to keep the parents entertained while the kids play in the bubbles and the snow.

And yes - technically the bubble/snow on-going cost is higher (when people ask about my electricity bill I point out that bubble mix costs me more - because LEDs are cheap to run). But I've spent far more on pixels than a snow machine/bubble machine.

I've thought about a bubble machine. How does it go with making everything slippery?

Kids are already running around like crazy and falling over, i wouldn't want to make it slippery as well.

Slippery... yes and no. It's manageable. If the driveway is dry then its largely a non issue although if you run the machine continuously in 1 spot all night then maybe it will get slippery. If the driveway gets wet after days of throwing bubbles at it then yeah it can get slippery, but nothing a hose down doesn't fix.

The biggest issue is that most of the bubble smoke machines you can buy are reasonably low quality and so you should expect to have to carry out regular repair or replacement of parts :( (I'm looking at you Beamz SB2000LED units.

What’s the going price for somethings half decent in the bubble machine world..

Me going indoors and leaving them in peace :D

The thing that the kids get most excited about is the push-to-listen. They get a certain satisfaction from hitting the button and music coming on.
I had a repeat visitor tonight ( 2 & 1/2 year old) who hit the button right on 7pm when the show started, she thought she pressed the button and the tree started singing and her night was absolutely made.

something I think I may add next year, we definitely get more walkers around our estate which most of I reckon don’t even realise there’s music to go with it

I’m not across the snow machines but the machines I have seen the snow basically comes out of the actual unit.. is it possible to have like a hose the snow comes out of and then you can hide the machine away somewhere to hide the noise?

If you ever saw Grange Road Lights in Sandringham - I know they used to have 1 or 2 of those going. (A different brand I think)
