Lytworx Waterfall on a DMX2-24

Finally got around to learning how to program DMX signal into the DMX2-24. The Lytworx Waterfall from Bunnings is a 3-string-4-light system, but after some trial and error was able to rig it up to work and now I have programmable speed!

I bridged two of the channels on the DMX2-24 to get the waterfall to work. I can't really set the lights on the waterfall into combinations, but can have them on individually.

Nearly all my lights are also from the single DMX2-24, it can really pump out some juice if you spread the lights around between multiple channels. I have it and the power supply in an old computer case with some computer fans running to keep it cool just in case.

I am intrigued as to how the 3 string 4 light setup works and how you managed to fudge together a working solution on the DMX2-24.

The supplied controller has 2 strings going in from a one-directional transformer, then switches to 3 strings after. The controller button changes the speed of the waterfall effect as it cycles between the 4 lights. For the 3 strings I found the 4 combinations are:
1+ 2-
1- 2+
3+ 2-
3- 2+
So the middle string is shared by all 4 lights, 1 and 3 are used by only two each and they otherwise act similair to the 2-way wires by alternating the current direction. As the only option available option is for the waterfall effect which cycles through the 4 lights one-by-one, there are no issues with short-circuits.

The frustrating part is that the controller has no memory, and defaults back to the slowest (and least interesting) speed each power-cycle. Aside from doing some bespoke electronics which is way outside my skill level, I was stuck with doing a manual speed change each night.

I purchased the DMX2-24 fingers-crossed I could get it to work. I took 4 outputs from the DMX2-24, bridged 2 for the middle string (trial and error to find out which, luckily it didn't get destroyed when I made mistakes) and the other two outputs for the outer strings.

And it basically works fine! Looking forward to testing out a reverse waterfall and speed effects.
