Has anybody had any luck with ArtNet controllers with DMX data or output from LOR?
I know very little about the different protocalls, so please bare with me. I purchase the ARTNET6UN (http://www.ebay.com/itm/221189197397?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649)
Thinking it was basically the same concept as the J1Sys E1.31 controllers, but so far have had no luck getting it to work with dumb or smart lights of any sort... transmitting simple DMX. Frankly I don't even know what ARTNET is! I feel a bit dumb not even knowing if this is the right controller to do anything that I want, but I figure it's worth asking since I already have the component.
Thanks in advance!!

ARTnet is not supported by LOR. ARTnet and E1.31 are different protocols but both run on ethernet. You will need software that supoports ARTnet

Hi
ArtNET is more dedicated to professional lights.
I got the same device for evaluation and works fine with :
- Madrix (www.madrix.com)
- Glediator (free) http://solderlab.de/index.php/software/glediator/78-software-projects/88
- Lightjams (http://www.lightjams.com/)
... Some more...
Generally these devices (ArtNET) are more expensive than Ed's developments (sACN)...
ArtNET manage generally DMX devices as outputs
sACN (E1.31) is more dedicated to pixels and in some cases DMX too (more flexible/ less cost).

Thank you both for the info.
Bummer that I purchased BEFORE I did my research!
I'll probably try to list the thing back on eBay where I got it as I don't really want to go the direction of branching off into ArtNet right now... unless anyone on here is interested in purchasing it from me...
