I see that there is a class at Florida Megamini to add push button to EFL Wings to run different color display for people to take there photo with. It mention you need a PI, extender node kit, push buttons etc but no mention of what actually runs the pixels. Could you attach an pixel controller like Hanson Electronics tPI-28D on top of the Extender on the PI to run the lights or do you need a separate controller for the lights

I built mine with a pressure pad and each time you would step on the pad it would change the sequence to the next one in the schedule. I used Alans RPI-28+ but you need to put a set of headers to make it fit. Jaycar sells these20220129_151646.jpg

Same as Jarrad, I just used a switch connected directly to a gpio pin on a PiZeroW to play the next sequence. In my case it was just a pinball pushbutton from Jaycar.
There is no reason that you couldn't setup 4 pushbuttons to select the sequence.
The whole extender concept feels a little over engineered.
