BYO RGB light strips

I know of the more commercial RGB light strips such as the LOR CCR's, Firefly's, and soon to be RGB Pixel nodes from MPH, but what about RGB nodes for the build it yourself crowd?

Are their other products that you can use to create your own RGB Led strip with dmx control of all nodes in the strip?

A DIY type DMX controller for the intelligent RGB ribbon out of china is one of the pending projects, the ribbon has been in the cupboard for over 12 months now.

Next year will see a RGB Pixel project with controller hardware for the 2000 RGB nodes i will use for my icicles, (3000 if garage included).
