clear out chat

We have cleared out a few lurkers to clear up room for others to come in

My apologies to those that I kicked, but it is in the best interest of those trying to log into chat

happens every year as there are more active members towards Christmas
 
I couldn't get in either.

Now that it is cleared out (thanks), I get a message saying "User or IP is banned."

I'll accept it if I'm banned but would like to know why. I can't have just been kicked because I couldn't get in.

Not sure whats going on there but give it 5 minutes as when I kick people it takes 5 minutes for them to be allowed back in.
 
Same here, I was on last night for the first time in a long time. Chatted for awhile and then closed my browser and powered down my computer. I got the same message, it says User or IP banned?
 
an like usal im one of the one's that get's kicked..

So if anyone sent me Pm's needing advice or help,
they will now have to be re-sent due to Eddy again..

This happens every year..
the long term helpers of ACL get booted,
yet all the lurkers stay..

how about auto log out of chat every 24hr's or something..
at least that will be a bit more fair,
than picking a selected few an kicking them.

Eddy 3 years in a row..
this issue needs to be sorted out properly,
were allways going to have this issue,
so lets make it fair for everyone

Nar Chat is very resource hungry on the CPU, an with the constant updates to all chat members..
ACL kinda found this Sweet spot (max users, no host issues)

So its a issue we have every December.. (but only dec) {35 users in chat is alot}
There just needs to be a practice put in place to keep everyone happy..
 
Guys the issue is that with the current Ajax chat then its a very server intensive application and in the past when there has been over 30 users in chat then this effects the servers performance to the point of crashing, this used to be a major issue until the chat limits were applied.
Rest assured that the ACL team are looking into options for the long term for both chat and social network integration and details on that may come in the new year once a decision has been made.

Alec there were a lot of people kicked, we knew you were asleep and not active so you came under the same simple criteria that I set for clearing up space. Its not a select few as you were not active to know who was kicked so your comments seem more of a whinge than anything else. Im sure you will get over it. ;) :D


Either way the ACL team are looking at new options for the future and once a decision is made then we will announce it.
