I want to put a 10 minute countdown clock on my mega tree for between shows. What is the simplest way. I have found lots of plain black and white countdown videos on youtube. Would LSP have an issue converting a 10 minute video to display in a matrix or is there a simpler way.

If your going to try this then make sure you use as low a frame rate you can get away with and be prepared to leave your computer to crunch the numbers overnight

Yeah I thought this would chew up time. I just didn't know if you could display a countdown thru the text function (marquee I think it's called). I'll give it a shot over the weekend.

you could do it with the marquee tool but you would have to do 10 separate macros at 1 min intervals i would think.

Yeah but I want seconds too. So 10 mins would mean 600 macros. Hmmm I'll see if w PC can grind away at it.

you can create the countdown timer in xLights. In the text effect the last prompt says

Count Down
You have 3 choices
1) None
2) Count down by seconds
3) Count down to date

you will next need to export a UserPatterns.xml file so you can paste the effect into LSP. I think you could also create a LOR lmd file and read that in.

thanks

Just my 2c worth - it works a lot easier exporting to LOR and then pulling it into LSP (other file types might work too).
I could not get the UserPatterns effect to work correctly.
On my machine a 10 minute countdown took about 2 hours and 40 minutes to complete but now the sequence freezes at around 6 minutes and I have to restart LSP to be able to play it again.
