Just wondering if anyone knows what I would need to make or where I could get a DMX controlled motor that would spin an object. I have seen stuff about servos for making skills talk for Halloween but I want something to rotate on que that I can include in part of a sequence (so I am presuming it would need to be DMX controlled ).

depending on how big the item is you need to spin there are a range of hacks you can do. Servos can be modified to fully rotate. then controlled by a DMX servo board.
Otherwise Motors of any size can be triggered to start with relays by any DC board.

Don't know if something like this is available to you in NZ, Not directly DMX controllable but it can be triggered via a relay and the speed is adjustable. Also the prop motors they sell have pretty good torque.

I purchased a few of these last yaer and they are just connected up to a channel of a DC board with a small relay.
they come in a few different ratios from 4-15 rpm.
