Scenario:
I had just finished a live demo on what happens when you short out a 100 count string of pixels and we had wrapped up the chat.
I had been testing 5v and 12v strings all day and had both 5v and 12v power injection cables lying on the desk, yeah without labels and all the same.
Grabbed the 5v string to plug the PI feed in the 100cnt end and absently grabbed the 12v PI cable.
.
.
. Well mmm, those pixels look nice and bright wonder what changed... and why has the fan suddenly speed up on one of the supplies.
.
.
. Looked at the current meters and realised what i'd done.

Outcomes:
* The 5v supply shut down fully, most likely Over Voltage Protection kicked in
* The 100 5v pixels survived with 12v in the end and around 8.9v at the other end
* Brightness went up... a lot.
* With the 12v removed the 5v supply automatically started and was fine.

I retried this about 5 times the last being for the video below
These are just the cheap clone supplies and yet they survived with the OVP correctly working.

Apologies for the audio quality
