Effect on Model, first pixel red

Newbie here. When I place an effect (ie Butterfly) on my model, the first pixel is red, and the second pixel is the same as the third pixel, then the effect acts normal on the rest of the pixels. I have 8 mini trees and this happens to all of them. How would I correct this?

I have been informed that this is the normal action for the Butterfly effect...and here I thought I was doing something wrong, Thank you for your help.
On to my next task...how to import a sequence and make it fit my display.
