Hey Jim, welcome to ACL and your journey into pixel lighting.
I suggest reading the 101 manual - it's a bit dated but many of the concepts do transfer across. Things are a little simpler these days with the likes of visualiser in xLights, and DDP where you're not worried about universes and the like.
Many other US based folk frequent here; and everyone is willing to provide whatever advice they can to ensure you have a smooth sailing show and get across what you need to in order to understand it.

It might help to know what you mean by "some pixels and power supplies" and what you're hoping for.
