Hi all,
I started working with Christmas lights back in 2007 and in 08 I decided to design my own 16 port controller which ran via serial port. The design was crude and basic but it worked well - I used Vixen 2 and synced them to Wizards in Winter. Here is my display in action in Andergrove many years ago -

The controller runs solid state relays which the lights plug into. Here was a test video I did of the controller after I built it -

Unfortunately things got very busy for me with life and last year the fiancee and I bought our new home which I'm looking forward to setting up a new display! I consider myself pretty good with electronics and I do a lot of programming being an IT tech.. The controller I'm looking at purchasing to start up the display again will be the Falcon F16v3 to control NeoLED's. Really looking forward to learning everything with the new way of controlling lights! Should I use XLights or Vixen 3 these days?
