Just joined the site after being aimed this direction from Xlights. Xlights looks to be the answer to my prayers. Got pointed at Xlights by Dr. Zzzzs.
I have some DMX controlled lights at work that are run by a Pharos controller. Got tossed in the deep end with that, and had to figure that all out on my own. Only 4 lights in the art piece hanging in the stairwell, so not really much to do there. Another building has 20 lights on it that I have access to. There's not much interest in adding any architectural lighting at work, so no way to expand there.
I did think it would be cool to have some addressable lights on the house, but figured a DMX controller would be pretty expensive and hard to get past the wife.
E1.31 looks like the way to go on a NodeMCU running WLED. Looking for a nice cheap entry into playing with this stuff.
Found a couple companies (https://gemstonelights.com/) in the local area here in Alberta that will install addressable LED lights in tin channel for about $22 a foot. https://gemstonelights.com/wp-conte...2A54-F330-4439-9C4D-9C27BEF01808-1024x768.jpg
They have apps on a smart phone to control the lights, but only preset patterns. Not really what I wanted to spend a lot of money on to be so limited. The LEDs used are little pucks about 25mm in diameter and snap into the holes in the trim. I haven't been able to find them yet online.
And yes, I understand that getting into addressable LED lighting is a never ending money pit... Cheap to start, but you always *need* more lights!
