My name's J.D. Harrington from the east coast of the United States. My first (and only) year putting up a Christmas display was 2008 (304 LOR channels, 48,000 lights, www.staffordlights.com). I had a relatively minor motorcycle accident just before setting up for 2009 that kept me from putting the display up. My job kept me too busy the next two years. But I'm planning for 2013, with an all new RGB Pixel set up. Although I'm comfortable around electronics, computers, software, etc., I'm sure I'll have lots of questions about the DIY side of things.
