Hi to all, I'm new to the controlled Christmas lights scene but would like to learn and plan as much as possible to have at least a modest decoration for Christmas.

Welcome to ACL. https://buildalightshow.com is probably the closest "complete system" or complete source of controllers, pixels and coro props.
They have Baldrick 8 controllers as complete build kits that can get you going within minutes.
 
So have you got any equipment already? Have you ordered any?
What do you think you would like to do, maybe mark up a picture of your house and post here if you need a bit of help
 
Welcome onboard! Definitely lots to learn. I am only in my second year and loving it (but pocket lighter). Where are you based?
