Hey all!

I’ve been a long time tinkerer, particularly passionate about 3D printing and using WLED. Not even sure I know how many ESP32s with WLED are running around the house 😂

Recently decided to have a play around with a raspberry pi and making some lights trigger to music which led me down the rabbit hole of xlights etc. and eventually this sub!

So great to find others like me, nobody in my life is interested in over the top LED lighting but I love it.

Have a young child who’s just started to be amazed by Christmas lights, too late for me to build anything for this year but I figure I’ve got a lot of time to plan something great for next year.

Thanks all!

Hi
I would recommened that you try to get around to some displays in your area and talk to people about their set up for ideas and attend a mini expo ( usually June - July for Melbournes ) if you can, as you can easily spend money on things that you will not be happy with once you find out what is about and how this hobby is moving forward

Hey Matt, welcome.
There are plenty of us around Melbourne.. I'd definitely second the recommendation to go and checkout a few local displays (You can see a map here: https://auschristmaslighting.com/locations/ ). Most of us are very welcoming and can give you a tour/walkthrough/etc.

(And there's certainly a bunch of 3D printing and WLED around). For something to pencil into your calendar -the mini will probably be July 5th and 6th next year.

Great idea, given the time of year it’s perfect for going around and learning right now.

Awesome resource thank you, I had no idea about the mini expo, that’s great to find out about! Just followed on Facebook so I can see when it’s on and attend that for sure.
I presume you actually mean western suburbs of melbourne
Yes sorry, should’ve been more clear :)
Edited the thread title.
