Just to say Hi. I am looking forward to getting started on my first project here in the UK and hoping to get something done for Halloween and then Christmas so have a few months to learn all that i need. I have downloaded the 101 Manual so just trying to get my head round that before diving in and purchasing my first set of lights and controller. One question though came to mind straight away when reading the first few pages of 101, 5v or 12v which is best as seen lots of forum questions about which one to use?

Hi, welcome to ACL. For WS2811 round bullets, I lean towards the 12 Volt Regulated but currently have about half Resistor and half Regulated. I do have a couple hundred 5 Volt pixels but purchased them more for testing than to be used in a display. I do not yet have any square pixels; rounds are cheaper I think and so far have worked all right. For strip if or when you get there, I prefer the 12 Volt WS2815s.
