How to photograph Christmas lights

Couple of things for local Australian photo shooters

It gets dark just a little later in OZ, depending where you are from say 7.30 to 8.45pm

You are likely to find more LED bulbs, these are not tungsten and for that you will better results normally by leaving the colour balance at auto or daylight.

Everything else that is talked about applies.

I found the 2 single biggest things to improve the quality of light pics is to use a tripod and the shutter timer. The increased clarity by taking out the shaking from holding the camera in your hands is amazing.
