They are super light, and hide the cables.
Using for house outline. But might give a shot on the roof as well. Super cheap too. Bought bag of 100 grommets for $12 on ebay.

They look to be top hat plaster battens. They could be cheaper from plaster suppliers.

As Alan said, it can be called tophat, topspan or ceiling batten. Probably many more names also. And generally it comes in 6m lengths from any good building supplier.

What do the grommets do? If its for waterproofing is that a bit redundant seeing as pixels and wiring are sealed anyway?

I would imagine it's to stop the pixel rubbing on the metal sheeting and causing issues over time with movement.

Thanks for sharing. Great idea! I think it will work well sitting on top of my brick fence. Thinking maybe attached to a 4'x2' and simply lay it down. Keeps it portable/temporary (will tie it down somehow to stop it walking away of course)

Just thought i'd share another idea. I made these roof brackets, cost $6 each from Bunnings. I just slid a roof tile back, put bracket on over lip of bottom tile and slid tile back over. It meant i could just cable tie my top hat spans on. And taking down was a breeze.

And the verticals on the side of the house were my top hat spans, attached using the below brick clamps from Amazon. No drilling required and again take down of lights is seconds.

And my top hat spans just hang in the roof of the shed off-season.

I wish i could use these. My brick have flat morter. Morter running to the edge of the brick...................
