Layout of Mini tree

Hi Guys, I am planning my first christmas i have controllers and Pixels (12v). I am trying to work out when setting up the strings on my tree, do i run the data from the bottom or can i zigzag up down. Or can anyone point me to some wiki about wiring etc

I think it's easier to inject the data from the bottom (easier physical wiring), most modern controllers allow you to apply a zigzag configuration to the string configuration as well.

start bottom and zigzag, power inject if necessary.

if using xlights megatree, since it's zigzagged -:

strands per string = 2 (1 string is actually 2 separate strings, 1 up and 1 down)
nodes per string = nodes per single string*2
# strings = physical number of strings/2
