Looking for simple icicles

TL; DR: Can anyone recommend a source for icicle lights that run off <50VDC and aren't compromising on brightness?

Hi everyone, we started a big-ish display last year and are hoping to make some improvements this year.
One item that caused some difficulty were simple icicles running around the buildings, with solid light (no flashing).

We used these ones from AliExpress which produced exactly the effect we wanted, however we had a few issues:
  • Poor build quality - started falling apart
  • Waterproofing issues - started shorting out, tripping breakers, losing sections
  • Hazard - they work by just rectifying the 240V rather than stepping down, so there are reasonably high voltages in an area with kids around (if they blew off the roof)
  • Wind constantly flicking them back up into the gutters as they were very light.

For other ones I have found online, I suspect they use the same 2-pin setup as the Bunnings string lights, where every second diode is wired backwards, and so to have all the lights on they run at a 50% duty cycle which looks ok, but didn't give as nice a vibe as the AliExpress ones.

I don't care about flashing so any solution would have to be either 2-wire with them all wired the same way (no flashing), or 3-wire (with effects).

Does anyone have a recommended solution for this that doesn't involve pumping mains voltage through wet LEDs in a gutter?

Look for commercial options locally, more expensive but usually heavy duty outdoor double insulated cable, ip68 rated led heads, most of them are 240v powered but the wires are actually rated for the voltage, and have a far lower chance of injuring someone unlike the AliExpress shock risks you can buy. They are designed to be safe.
