Lost in Space (where have my groups gone)

I have created several groups following the example on page 16 of the manual Groups are crreted and visible in layout mode but when in sequencer they sre not there. Is there some setting which I have not found,

I expected to find the groups showing on the sequencer page and no, they are not hiding "off screen"

If you've just created the groups then the easiest option to ensure you see them all is to use the quick start option when creating a new sequence.
