Lowering videowall brightness

Hi there.

Well, I have finally gotten my P5 videowall working, and not without a lot of trail and error!

For some context…
I am using a Colorlight 5A-75E LED Screen Receiving Card to drive this whole thing (6 panels wide, 8 panels heigh). This card is running version 11 firmware (this seemed the most stable and caused least amount of flicker). I configured the card in the Colorlight software, before testing with a Colorlight videowall processor (X2m) and then using a raspberry pi5 running FFP as the final step.

What I have noticed is when driving certain shades of white too hard, I have ended up with flicker, and some horizontal lines.
Dimming the brightness does seem to help when using the X2m.

What I would like to know is there a setting within the Xlights software that will allow me to adjust the output bright for the virtual matrix I created to run this Video wall?

The flicker was rare when I was testing video sequences from FFP, but I would also like to dim the wall as a safety precaution to prevent any equipment from drawing too much current and burning out.

Change it in ledvision, if you change it anywhere else you lose color definition.

I did set it from “8” to “5” using Ledvision.

It’s guessing it’s better to go a bit lower then?

I’m still curious to know if it’s possible in xlights, mostly for testing on the fly while I’m previewing.

Note, when doing this in LEDVision - you need to go into the receiver setup, and on the tab where you define the parameters for the panels, there's a "Brightness" setting that can be an integer, like 1-9. Send that to the receivers and save it.

Dont use the main menu in LEDVision where you can adjust it based on a percentage- that's only used when LEDVision sends data to the card.

I did set it from “8” to “5” using Ledvision.
I am using 2 on my panels (outdoor ones) - and that gets it to a similar brightness to pixels at 100%. You might need to go to 1 for night time brightness.

Correct, it was a setting from 1 to 8, with 8 being the default.
