Matrix Setup advice - radio prop

Hi xLights experts,
I’ve just bought a new prop which is a cool looking radio tune in sign that has a matrix pattern for displaying the frequency.
Problem I’m facing is that the matrix isn’t a traditional ordered wiring route, it’s a mix of vertical, horizontal and some zig zags for wire optimization.
When sequencing in xLights, I can’t get text to display properly on the matrix, only displays a few pixels that doesn’t make sense.
Patterns work fine and as expected, it’s just text that doesn’t work.

Any ideas or advice??
 
I have the same one.
You need to creat a custom sub model that has the layout in a more traditional matrix pattern.

Then just map the text/radio station to sub model.
 
Thanks gents, great advice and certainly gone a lot further than I had previously.
Still not 100% perfect so I’ll do some more fiddling and hopefully can get it spot on.
