Can you believe it is Christmas time once again? A very Merry Christmas to one and all!

I just want to take a moment to thank everyone who has contributed to our great information resource over the years - be that documenting your display build, answering questions, taking us behind the scenes to show how your display is put together, or giving us a front row seat to watch your finished show.

Thank you also to the mod team for generously giving your time and helping to keep all those eager spambots away.

To all the new members who joined this year, welcome aboard! If 2025 was your first year of animated lighting then I hope everything went well and you should feel proud of what you have achieved (in fact that goes for everyone new or old!). If you're aiming to start in 2026, best wishes to you and don't be afraid to ask questions - someone may know the answer or point you in the direction of where to find the information you need.

To everyone who decorated this year, thanks for making your area brighter and giving something amazing for the public to enjoy. While your 2025 display is still fresh of mind I invite you to reply to a discussion I started that asks how 2025 went for you and what you may be planning for 2026:

Special recognition to our generous elves, who this year collectively have helped with the majority of our website running costs with the remainder coming from surplus funds that were contributed in prior years. Our backend control panel licence fees will rise by around 10% in 2026, but if incoming funds remain steady then our prior surplus should make up the shortfall for a while yet. If you would like to become a generous elf, you may do so by visiting the financial contributions link within your account settings area. A big thanks also to the one individual who subsidises our server rental costs.

And before I forget, remember that during the year typically around May-June, members in several Australian states usually put together a day or weekend called a Mini where both new and existing lighting enthusiasts can congregate together to socialise and learn off of each other. I recommend to turn on watch notifications for our Mini forum and check back in from time to time.

Last of all, below are some interesting stats recorded over this past calendar year. From 1 Jan 2025 to 24 Dec 2025 we have had:
  • New posts: 3834
  • New threads: 453
  • New members: 1606
  • New media items: 78
  • New display videos: 75
Our busiest day for 2025 with the most logged in members was 21 December.
