Read up on the 101 manual, there's a lot to take in.

If you're wanting to computer control static lights (and slowly merge to pixels) then @AAH with Hanson Electronics sells DMX boards to control these. He also has a version for the annoying '2-wire' lights that stores sell now.

Welcome from another Victorian.
I have controllers for nearly all types of lights except for mains voltage (without plugpack) lights. They are almost extinct in Aus now anyway.
