Hi All,

I have made the plunge... and bought a Pixlite 16 plug and play and some lights to go with it... I've just bought some strips too, for a tree, and some cable, to attempt to make some extensions! (Although I'm not sure which wire goes where yet!.. ahhaaa)
I haven't plugged to PixLite in yet.. just wanted to know any tips you had for the very first time.
I'll plug the box in to the computer over the weekend.... but .... What do I do next!? I see people use Xlights, and other programs, which one do you recommend!. also anyone have any Videos or YouTube things I can watch.. I'm very visual, and seem to find if I watch someone do something, I can pick it up better than reading something!

ANYTHING YOU CAN SHOW OR TELL WILL BE VERY MUCH APPRICATED!

thanks so much.. let the confusion and fun begin!.
Thank so much. sorry for all the questions.
Andi

Use xlights.
Watch Keith Westley's videos on youtube about setting up.
Jump into ACL chat to socialise or if you have a problem. If all else fails use Zoom. There's a link to the Zoom room on the xlights.org page.

Hey Andi,
First thing just download the Advetek assistant and connect the Pixlite to a switch on your network. Once the assistant detects your Pixlite you can 'log in' (you don't actually log in) and have a play with all the settings. If you have a bit of an idea on networking it would be worth setting the IP address for the Pixlite on your router (static IP). This way when you get to using xLights you will be able to map to the controller easily. For the connections to the strips, did you buy the ones from Advetek? I think they are a bit different to the off the shelf ones you get from Aliexpress etc. If you did then they will connect easily. Just hook them up (make sure the voltage is right ;)) and use the assistant to cycle some colours. Then the fun begins. There's heaps more to it. Most vids you search online will be able to help. Others will have tips here and there are lots of tutorials, mostly with Falcon players but the fundamentals are the same. I'm curious to see how the plug n play goes.

thanks so much, I have a play when I get some spare time... (You'd think being in stage 4 lock down you'd have heaps of time!!!! NOT AT ALL!)
Yes I did get the lights from Advetek, looking forward to getting in and having a play around!.
