Ripple ?

Semi newb here

I'm not sure whats its called so not sure what to search but is there tutorial on how to ripple effect the whole display or the curtain reveal effect
just saw it in the "how to make gravy " sequence and thought it may be something I will try for next year

Best way I’ve found to learn as a fellow newb is importing sequences and mapping the prop that has the effect I want to learn and then look at it. Often it’s layering that I’ve been missing. Ripple sounds like shockwave? There is a curtain I’ve mapped onto a matrix to reveal a singer which worked well
