Roof Lining

I want to outline the edges of my roof with pixels, but don't have a plan in mind for mounting. What are some ways I can mount pixels on the edges of my roof? I've seen people take small pieces of wood and drill holes in, but how far apart should I make them. Just to clarify, 18 Gauge WS2811 Pixel Nodes spaced 4 inches.

If you have gutters, the thin mounting strips fit on top of clothes pegs. I've done the same thing with LED strips here so that you can see what I mean. It works well with nodes in mounting strips too. I've since found that wooden pegs fit the gutters better than plastic ones. https://auschristmaslighting.com/threads/10364/
