Single Pixel - Incorrect Colour

I have a Pixlite16 driving WS2811 pixel strips - 16 strings of 75 pixels.

On one of the string outputs I have a single pixel showing blue when white is being displayed. I have changed the string to another one that is displaying the correct colour and it too displays the same (blue when it should be white).

The controller is a V3.6 and has V1.4.14 firmware which I have reflashed. It did this last year as well but I thought it was a bad string and didn't worry about it at the time. I am using Vixen 3.4u1 but as mentioned it also did it with an earlier version.

When I check the strip with either Advatek Assistant and the Pixlite 16 or another controller all pixels on all strips display correctly however in sequences a single pixel won't play the game.

Any ideas?

Before you cut out and replace that misbehaving pixel in your display … you need to be damn sure it is actually a problem with the pixel.

It is also possible it is a simple setup issue that is causing that pixel to light up the wrong colour.

By far the most common reason is a mismatch in universe sizes between xlights/FPP/controller. This typically impacts the last pixel in the universe … ie pixel 171 … but there are other possibilities too numerous to go into here.

So how can you know. Start by using your controllers test mode. If it works in test mode then it isn’t a pixel problem.

If it doesn’t work in test mode try increasing the number of nodes on that output and trying test mode again. If it is still a problem then maybe you are right … cut that bad boy out.

Where about in the string is it, beginning, end or middle?
Have you triple checked your patching in Vixen? Maybe wipe the patching and redo it, it only take a a minute or so.
