Hi there I am interesting in using some WS2812B panels to create a small wall.

Not too concerned on electronics or wiring these up, but I have no idea which is the best Xlights model to use if I start daisy chasing a lot of these.

Would like to create a small 16:9 display with these, but for now looking at creating an RMS / VU meter or a message board.

cheers!

Matrix model would be best, as that's what they are.
If you're using multiple panels, you might need multiple matrix models, grouped / shadow modelled, depending on how they are wired and how you lay them out.

I figured matrix was probably best when I looked.

From what I know, these zig zag top to bottom.

My problem is , say for example I connect a second panel, how does xlights know where to start the Zig Zag pattern again so the layout doesn’t get messed up?

I haven’t used groups yet, I’m I honesty don’t know what a shadow model is.

Do you have a basic example?

Usually you will have a piece of hardware that drives the panels like a ColorLight card driven by a Raspberry Pi or a BeagleBone Black with a daughter card on top. In xLights you just create a normal matrix for the full size of the panels and then the hardware will take care of splitting out the data to the panels but there is a bit of setup you need to do to accomplish it all.
