Somehow I made this work. Was just a combination of setting the com port in vixen 3 which I had already done previously and starting vixen 2.1 and then starting vixen 3 and suddenly it started working.
Now I am just struggling with passing the dmx data to the second controller which is a dmx...
Okay
Sorry about that. My error.
I have now tested the mosfets and found the one on channel 1 is blown but the rest seem fine.
Moving on from there as I dont think that the problem is blown mosfets because they are switching okay what is the next step?
I have the icicles connected to channels...
Okay now I am really confused. Possibly trying to make too many changes at once.
I disconnected the power and used my multimeter from the mosfet to the v+ channel but all of my mosfets seem to be reading approx .5 on them. They cannot all be blown.
As I am looking at the board, which is set up...
Hi all
I just hauled out all my lights again and am looking at my icycles and thinking, "wow, I cant remember any of this stuff"
Serves me right for not labelling everything.
Modified:
I just tested these lights and the 2 channels are the v- so with only 1 v- wire how do I wire the 2 channels...
Do you think it would be possible to use my 24 volt led rope light with these?
I am considering trying to expose one conductor between each led in a series and running a separate conductor down one side. It fits perfectly in the canes and exposing and soldering to one conductor would be child's...
I am referring to your very first post in this thread David. Quote " It would have DMX input and each one would be individually addressable to allow for some more detailed sequences"
Also further down you said, and I quote again "I could look at an updated version (so the regulator can sit on...
I would definately be interested David.
Getting them from China? I thought there were loads of places to get cheap boards closer to home now adays.
Anyway, Can you refresh my memory, how are they connected to the dmx controller in the chain? and can you pass the DMX signal on to the next...
Too easy eh?
Thanks for posting those David. Thats a good idea, that jig.
I have loads of RGB leds lying around, I am sure I could do something with those also.
Steve
I thought I remembered a schematic or something posted at the start but I may be mistaken.
I plan at this stage to just use led rope light stuffed into them and control them with a standard dc controller but it would be good to expand on that.
That's true. I cant really see the difference myself because you will always have to do some manually due to the shape.
May as well do the whole lot I say!
Will just keep an eye on this post then, just in case
;)

Hi David.
Did you ever go back and relook at this board?
I am still interested in getting some, failing that could you post the schematic that vanished with the server move please so I can try and recreate some myself.
Appreciated
Steve
Good idea David. I have been investigating adding a vu meter to my display for a while.
Software would be a great way to do it I feel, I am adding an e680 this year and was hoping to do it with pixels as I would have some spare capacity.
Coro fire sticks/candles like fast eddys would look great...
