Hi guys, just wondering if anyone has used these icicles from Ray Wu Ray Wu's Icicles

I watched a video from Leechburg Lights who had some custom made by Ray which had the pixels closer together than the standard size Ray sells. Leechburg Lights

Its my first time buying through Ray, I'm not sure if it is worth getting custom made or stick with standard sizes?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
It's up to you, I bought icicles from ray direct, a string of 60 pixels in a 3,4,5 drop pattern, I have 5 of these daisy chained across the front verandah, giving 300 pixels in total, I also cut another string down to 50 to fit above the garage roller door. They have work well and look good, the gutter (13 metres) above has pixels along it, and the verandah posts have vertically pixels down each one.

By daisy chaining it makes power injection very easy.

This works well for me but not suit you, at the moment I get an order from Ray, delivered to my door within 3 weeks of payment, freight by DHL.

Hi Mattslights,

It really depends on your design and what you want to do with your icicles. This was my fist year doing icicles and decided to go custom order lights with 20 x 7 pixel drops per string with 350mm spacing between drops (140 pixels total per string but installed at 200mm spacing between drops)

My reasoning was that I am mounting the icicles from conduit (4m length) so I wanted to make sure I could plug in the next string at the end of the conduit rather than joining multiple standard sets to make 4m (Plus 140pixel was a good number to power inject at for 12V).

The cost of my 140 pixels was about $65 plus postage so it was minimal cost to get exactly what I wanted rather than try and solder strings together,

My custom order (back in June) took very little time to arrive (two weeks from payment to delivery).

I hope this is of some help to you.

Thanks elad315, how did you attach the conduit to the guttering of your roof?
I was going to use either binder clips or the plastic gutter clips from available at Christmas shops.

I am using 3D printed gutter clips (thanks to a mate with a 3d printer) to hang the conduit from my gutters. I found the print file from a old post in the forum here.

I know some of the crew here use conduit mounting clips you may just need to devise a small bracket to hang over the gutter which you can mount these onto.

Someone also suggested to me that if your gutters have overflow slots you can slot zipties through them and around the conduit

Hi again elad315, can I ask what size PVC would you suggest - 15mm, 20mm, 25mm?
