both times, hot yesterday had to quit dismantling and go for a swim in the pool.
Pixicles still up, and garage floor a mess of pixels

Sunburnt back of neck & ears from taking down most of the display yesterday. Still yet to take down roof lights however (better do that before it's 41deg on Sat!)

:jawdrop: Really?!?!
Its cold where you guys are at!! Like I think you'd be busting a heart valve getting it over 25 C....

We get a little giggle every time the news pipes up at how "Hot" it is for you guys...

Sorry! Too confrontational! Very sorry...
Just coz our night time temperatures are higher than your day time temps .... :cautious: Doesn't mean anything....

;)

We are actually worried our investments (yes you heard correctly - INVESTMENTS) in proper Christmas lights isn't going to last with the UVs and heat that we get here...

Yep, got a touch of sun putting them up, and hot hands when on the roof and touching the tiles. Haven't started tear down yet as I am tinkering with a few things.

And I store most of my stuff inside the roof cavity of the house so that is another joy to look forward to.

I've still got mine up too... between work and doing some sneaky testing for 2018... Should be starting tear down tomorrow... weather permitting!! Been getting some pretty awesome storms up here... (Also good for my testing as I know things are waterproof)

Haha good attitude! with your weather, MacArthur St Light Fusion, do you find that theres strong pixel degradation? Or is it not really an issue?

Thinking specifically of the roof line ... it gets our full heat and UV exposure... I have an extension cord running around the house (roof edging) as the power points don't work for our situation and that is showing signs of exterior coat degradation that makes me worry.

I've put my strips into UV protected endcaps this year... and they have worked so well I'm going to leave them up all year and see how they go... One less thing to put up/take down and give me the ability to do all sorts of holiday sequences with all my house lines...

Could I trouble you to PM or Post up a pic or 2,3,4,5,6 so I can see what you are referring to...

I put the peak of my roof up in end-cap in ~2013. I've never pulled it down on purpose although it usually fell down by about Feb or March. In late 2016 I attached it properly and it's been up ever since. So old strip, on the house in end-cap for approx 2 years over the past 5 without any issues.

Got very badly burnt during installation, I was even sillier than most and took my shirt off while putting my lights up and had a red back for a while.

For tear down I have done it gradually making the most of the cooler weather, started before December 31 pulling down as it was a nice day and just finished taking the last props off the roof last night.

As a 'Ginger-nut' I burn so very easily that I wear the full 'Mining-gear' all day every day... With as big a hat I can find (love sombreros but they look so silly!)... Most sunburns are averted... can't help it as I have to work outside....
