GENERAL POSTING RULES

Flaming/Trolling - Any content that is unlawful, harmful, harassing, threatening, defamatory, vulgar, hateful or distasteful in nature is prohibited. Please use appropriate language. Continued threats against a member, moderator or administrator will NOT be tolerated. If you disagree with another member, respond to the subject, not the person as the Internet has made it easy to make personal attacks, you must still exercise courtesy and self-restraint here.

Software piracy - Any content containing registration key/serial numbers, cracks, warez or direct links relating to pirated software that violate copyright laws as well as requests and offers for copyrighted material will be removed without warning and posters will be BANNED without warning.

Bumping - This refers to posting with the deliberate intention to either pad your post count or to keep a thread 'hot' so it appears at the top of the forum. These type of posts can be described as useless information, gibberish, redundant or one-liners. This activity will not be tolerated and continued abuse will be cause for warning and possible banning. Please try our search tools to see if there has already been a similar discussion first.

Multiple identities - Only one username or account is allowed per forum member. If you have forgotten your log in information, do not create a new account, please contact us.

Languages - All public content, including but not limited to titles, signatures or attachments MUST be in the English language.

Posting - Posts are to be made in the relevant forum. Users are asked to read the forum descriptions before posting. Users consistently posting to the wrong forum may be given a warning (see policing below). Double or cross forum posting or other attempts at flooding the forum with posts will be removed.

Adult/Explicit/Objectionable content - Any content that is unlawful, harmful, harassing, threatening, defamatory, vulgar, hateful or distasteful in nature are prohibited. Please use appropriate language. Continued threats against a member, moderator or administrator will NOT be tolerated. If you disagree with another member, respond to the subject, not the person as the Internet has made it easy to make personal attacks, you must still exercise courtesy and self-restraint here. Members should remember this board is aimed at a general audience. Anything including pictures or links to pornographic content is strictly prohibited. Posting pornographic or generally offensive text, images, links, etc. will not be tolerated and will lead to an immediate indefinite banning.

Moderation - Members are asked to not act as "back seat moderators". If members note an issue which contravenes something in this policy document they are welcome to bring it to the attention of a member of the Moderator Team. Only do this if a moderator team member has not replied within 6 hours. Do not respond to such topics yourself. Members who constantly "act" as moderators may be warned. The moderating, support and other teams reserve the right to edit or remove any post at any time. The determination of what is construed as indecent, vulgar, spam, etc. as noted in these points is up to Team Members and not users.

Copyright - Members are asked to respect the copyright of other users, sites, media, etc. Users linking to or asking for information on or re-printing material without permission will receive a warning and their post will be removed.

Images - Members should respect the bandwidth of other users and sites. The use of inline () image tags pointing to data stored on third party systems for which the user has not received permission to link to may be removed.

Grammar - Members should post in a way which is consistent with "normal writing". That is users should not post excessive numbers of emoticons, large, small or colored text, etc. Similarly users should not SHOUT or use excessive punctuation (e.g. ! and ?) in topic titles or posts. Users consistently abusing this will be warned.

Titles - Members should use an appropriate, descriptive title when posting a new topic. Examples of bad titles include; "Help me!", "I'm stuck!", "I've got an error!", etc.

Spamming - Spam is not tolerated here under any circumstance. Users posting spam will be warned and their post removed.

Privacy - Members are asked to not disclose to any 3rd party any vulnerabilities before first notifying the developers. You should submit all finds to the Administrator. Time should be allowed for us, at least 3 working days wherever possible, to respond.

Private Messaging - All forum rules where applicable also apply to private messaging. Abuse of the private messaging system may lead to warnings (as above), the revocation of private messaging and/or banning.

Warnings - AUSCHRISTMASLIGHTING operates a three strike policy. Users will be warned a maximum of three times for any and all offenses in a six month period. If the need arises for a fourth warning a temporary ban will be put in place of between 1 to 7 days. Arguing with team members after having received a warning will lead to an immediate additional warning. Should this exceed three strikes a temporary ban will be put in place as above. Users who feel they have been unfairly warned are welcome to contact the Administrator, e.g. if warned by a moderator you should contact the Administrator. If they feel you were treated badly they remove a warning. An exception to the three strike rule applies when users contact other members personally (via any method) and post insulting, indecent or vulgar material. Such users may be subject to an immediate permanent ban.

Banning - Any attempt to circumvent a temporary ban will lead to that ban being made permanent. Circumvention includes re-registering under a non-banned username, changing IP addresses to evade an IP ban, registering a new email account of evade an email ban. Circumvention includes posting as an anonymous user. Permanent bans are a last resort and thought is given before implementing them. While AUSCHRISTMASLIGHTING may consider lifting permanent bans from time to time this is a rare occurrence. Please keep in mind that we will not further debate your ban. If we suspect that you have signed up with a new username, those will also be banned. However, if you have mistakenly been banned (through no fault of your own) we apologize and will investigate the matter. For those who are banned and feel it was in error feel free to contact us.

Account removal policy - It is our policy that user accounts and or posts will not be deleted, unless they violate these terms. If you have privacy concerns please choose a different username from the one you'd normally use and try not to post anything. Please note that this is done to ensure the continuity of the forums.

VENDOR PARTICIPATION & COMMERCIAL SALES

It is the policy of AUSCHRISTMASLIGHTING to allow Vendors or Suppliers of Christmas related products to participate in the community forum providing Vendor actions adhere to the conditions that follow.

Vendors are welcome to create a topic for a product in the DEVELOPMENT LAB for the purposes of requesting member interaction with early concepts of a product. The VENDOR section of the forum is available to you for the purposes of announcing availability of a new product, giving notice of a revision of a released product or requesting user feedback on saleable products.

Vendors who offer for sale commercial quantities of Christmas-related products that the AUSCHRISTMASLIGHTING community take an interest in and are deemed to be active by the Admin(s) of AUSCHRISTMASLIGHTING may be offered a sub-forum where announcements and discussions can be grouped separately from other Vendor topics. Vendors are requested to respond to any support-related queries that are left in the sub-forum in a timely manner. At the discretion of the Admin(s) vendor sub-forums may be removed and the associated announcements/discussions returned to the general VENDOR section, should the vendor or representitive of the vendor cease participating in the community forums.

Vendors are permitted to link to their website for informational purposes in and outside of the VENDOR section, as part of their forum signature and in the chat room. Links to payment facilities (Order form, bank details, PayPal link) must be through a third-party website and not embedded in forum posts. Use of the private messaging system or other personal contact methods found on the website to deliver unsolicited advertising to AUSCHRISTMASLIGHTING members will not be tolerated and depending on the severity may result in account termination.

Any vendor deemed to be damaging the reputation of another vendor or vendor's products will be warned the first time and subsequent offences may result in account termination. The decision of the site Admin(s) is final.

The sale of genuine used or redundant items by forum members will be exempted from the above rule provided all posts are contained in the Members Trading Area. These sales will be limited and discretion will be used to determine if the sale is in violation of the site policies.
