Behind the Scenes 2019 (first ever pixel display)

A walkthrough of my 2019 display - props, controllers, assembling & mounting, etc.
It's my first year doing pixels, so I mixed up some terminology plus It's all unscripted so I ramble a little bit. haha. Hopefully there's some good stuff in there for you though

Nice, thanks for the walk through. Fellow Perthling looking to do my first display this year.
what cable do you use for power injection, did you get it locally?

Thanks, I hope you found it useful :) Where in Perth are you?

For my 2 core power injection cables I used 3.3mm Austech Garden Lighting Cable (100m roll) which is approx 13AWG. I bought it online from Sunshower online for $157 for 100m. Shipped from over east.

I'm up near whiteman park / Ellenbrook. Thanks for the cable details. I have been looking at the 6 core security cable that others suggest. But this sounds easier. What length runs are mostly doing for injection? Did you say you had mostly 12v?

I run everything at 5v, so voltage drop is much more of an issue, hence the fairly heavy gauge wire. You pay a premium for the cable, but its outdoor rated and designed for this purpose.

I understand that a lot of people use 6 core alarm cable and used multiple pairs, but it's never sat well with me that if one of the strands that makes up your positive run comes loose or disconnected, that you could risk running too much through your existing strands
