    Wooden mega tree

Hi Luke For my megatree I used 100mm pvc sewerage pipe about 8m long (6m + 2m) with lights starting about 2.2m up. I used 25mm pvc conduit in 6 sections to form the ring as shown in pics. My lights were 12 segments around the tree in 4 colours as a mega string (zip tied together). I had 5 guys...

Congratulations to all the Tuppets. Great show. I really like your use of the different elements.

    up's and down's of your 2014 display

My final show (ever) has now been run. We shut down the last show last night with a new years eve 'lights shutdown' party for family & friends. Dismantling will begin today (weather permitting). Show ran flawlessly (except for one night when I had a blue screen crash). Crowds were very large...

    Brisbane Storms - Nov. 27

The winds were pretty strong here at Sinnamon Park. Blew my roof trees over, but they stood up OK. My two big firework stars got tangled together and are a bit bent and twisted, but still standing. Judging (4kq) continues tonight. Judging by news and friends reports, we were lucky. A lot of...

    Christmas Gift Ideas

I could not live without a variable voltage DC power supply (with built in amps/milli-amps measurements) eg http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-30V-5A-Variable-DC-Power-Supply-Digital-Display-Lab-Grade-Adjustable-/111280062283?pt=AU_B_I_Electrical_Test_Equipment&hash=item19e8ceff4b

    Hi - From Brisbane

Hi Damien Welcome to this addiction. I'm close by at Sinnamon Park and a dedicated LOR user. I do have a lot of Big W lights and some limited RGB. There are a lot of effects that can be achieved with standard strings as opposed to RGB & pixels. If at any time you would like to chat or visit...

    Big w 2014

On Sunday, I noticed Bunnings range included green and pink strings, didn't find red. There were several high density short strings (~ 2m) waterfall lights and cherry trees. I didn't buy anything - I'm fairly well set for this year's display.

    LOR and Twinkle for pixels

Twinkle and shimmer are LOR controller hardware functions. On RGB channels, Twinkle produces multicolour effects, not a white twinkle. For cosmic devices, there is a twinkle macro effect which gives white. Shimmer acts on all controller channels simultaneously, and therefore should give white...

    Vertical fade on an arch

I assume you are programming in LOR. For your group of pixels and time period, expand the top pixel to show the individual RGB elements, then copy the required bit of sequence for all the channels involved, starting in the red channel. Then when you want to paste to a different colour, simply...

    Stand Alone Controllers?

Both the LOR DC boards have onboard memory to hold downloaded sequences which can be triggered or started at power up. The individual channels on each type of board can handle up to 4 amp/channel at 5 to 30+ volts, although there are total current limits which would prevent all channels running...

Extending cable of BigW lights operating on DC Controller

Hi BundyRoy Some years back, there were a series of posts on Big W string current draws. eg http://auschristmaslighting.com/forums/index.php?topic=362.msg2600#msg2600 The current depends on the applied voltage, but at 29 to 30 V, none of the colours draw more than about 200ma for the entire...

    Happy Birthday aussiexmas

Thanks Kel - Just got back from dinner out - 2nd night in a row. Sorry AAH - No show this year, however, I have bought a few new lights and controllers in the (possible) anticipation of a show next year (2014). I also have to work out what to get with the $500 LOR voucher from the 2012 LOR...
