By default the Baldrick 8 uses DHCP, and gets an IP address from your internet router (for most people's home networks). It's *possible* that the second Baldrick was given the same IP as the first if the first has been off the network, but still powered up. The first may still be hanging on to...
To answer question 1… seeds are not easy to keep facing one direction , but really don’t think it matters too much. From a distance I could not tell the difference on my megatree between seeds pointing inwards or outwards.
I also have a sloped driveway, similar to yours. i have some props standing up on solar tilt frames that I can just move aside, but have sometimes wondered how I could put an easily moveable matrix on there.
Back on topic though, along the lines of your coreflute idea there is also the...

Given the length you;re after I'm guessing this is perhaps to run from your controller out to the models? Depending on what you want to use it for (ie does it have to be black?), extension leads from Bunnings work really well and will be thicker copper...
are you connecting to the correct FPP instance? Ie do you have fpp based controllers? Do you only have a master (ie your main show player) or a master and one or more remotes?
To answer your first question, most routers should let you configure the DHCP range that it will hand out addresses from. Make this a smaller range, and then you can assign static IP addresses for anything you want out of the rest of the subnet/range.
Eg you might configure dhcp to use...
I notice port 2 on the receiver is configured for 200 nodes. You have double quadruple checked your cabling, etc? ;-) And that you're using a normal ethernet cable from the controller to the receiver, not a crossover...
