Closed ACL 'MK2 fully-built' aka MK3 strobes (ends 3-Aug-2015) CLOSED

Skunberg, I tested the strobes tonight and think that they will work as long as there are plenty of other lights running at the same time and people don't have to "just" focus on the strobes. Thanks for the offer, but I am going to go with the ones I have this year. Charles

Fasteddy, So if there are only grey and white wires, is there a way to get inside to connect a wire to the trigger pin? Charles

Skunberg, I will lay one strand on top of my front hedges tonight or tomorrow night, go across the street and look at them. I have only powered them up in my garage. If, they don't work for my purpose, then yes, I would sell them. I am in Dallas, Texas. Charles

Fasteddy, The strings I have have a grey wire @+5v and a white wire @ -5v. The original list of purchasers showed your name on the list, so I believe you bought some of the same strings that I did. Charles

I bought several of these strobes last year and never used them after reading and seeing a YouTube of the strobes taking 15 seconds to randomize. Has a work-a-round or modification be done since last year? Charles

10 minute abridged version of our 20 minute Christmas display

Software=xlights 4.(x) and Falcon player Big trees are just led strands on the branches and led net lights on the trunks. My son brought over a 60' lift from work and spent 4 days putting them up.

10 minute abridged version of our 20 minute Christmas display

Here is the link to a 10 minute abridged "Sampler" video taken from our 20 minute multimedia Christmas display entitled "Radio Holiday" which made use of both LED lighting and video projection mapping of our house. I would like to give a sincere thank you to all of you who answered my...

    Where to cut this strip

Followup: The converters are in the center of a meter's worth of pixels. Starting from the input end, you can cut every meter. Still don't know what the little jumper wires are for, but I can cut it where I need to cut it so life is good. Charles

    Where to cut this strip

All strips are identical and converters seem to be mounted in the center of each respective meter. Every cut area has that white square on the 5V without a solder pad. I'm guessing you are right and that it is a bridge which allows the cut at that point. But...I don't really know. I was...

    Where to cut this strip

smartalec and Fing, Starting at the input end of the strip and looking at the back of the strip, you have the following in order: All measurements are from input end of strip: 1) 18"-19" is the first little jumper wire 2) 23"-24" is the first converter 3) 39"-40" second little jumper wire 4)...

    Where to cut this strip

I have several strips from Ray that I need to cut. They are 2812B 12V. They have both 5V and 12V traces with Buck converters mounted on the rear of the strip. Because of the converters, they can only be cut every meter beginning from the input end so says Ray's website. Measuring that, I...

    Yet another Power Injection Question

OK, that explains why there is both a 5v and a 12v trace on the pcb. This unit may be the answer to my search. Including spares, I need to purchase 66 strips for this project and that isn't an insignificant amount of money to throw away if they are not proven reliable. Eddie, thank you for...

    Yet another Power Injection Question

Phil, Thank you very much for taking the time to write this very enlightening post. Now, I am off on a knowledge search for buck converters. This doesn't sound near as involved as running a bunch of 3 core T's and jumpers all over the place. Charles

    Yet another Power Injection Question

Eddie, I looked at the link on Ray's page. It is hard to tell so I will ask. Is there one converter at the beginning of the strip or are there one little mini converter at every chip? I don't know if that is even possible, so I am asking. Charles
