In my attempt, I didn't find it satisfactory. I found dual booting to windows to be the better option.
THe following is very biased, for it points to software I wrote.
Although I found sequencing with LOR to be quite fine, I did not like having to have my mac in windows to actually play the...
I dont know, with a light meter, and then some calculations, some software programming to automate the measurements/calculations, it didn't seem to hard to make a nice lookup table (not that tedious) to match the string.
I wouldn't say a lookup table is a bad way to do it. Perhaps the...
You can definitely implement some nice log dimming curves to match the eye response with the 12 bit pixels (using the 8 bit intensity values in the DMX stream). We did it in our first controllers we designed, and it does make a nice response.
In theory, one could do the same with 8 bit...
I understand the fastest that a DMX packet can refresh. It also can update up to 1/sec and keep the link alive.
E1.31 has a 2.5 second time out.
But my question is more basic. For DMX 512, one knows when all the data is in (either the slot count gets to 513), or another break.
For E1.31...
I have a question on how pixel strings are updated when they span universes.
Say for instance, one pixel string spans two universes. If I understand correctly, each of these universes come in on a separate multicast universe (based on the universe number). When does the controller know when...
Not complaining. Just odd that if one is perusing, one has to go to a third party site to get the product information and still not have base pricing to do some trade offs.
But I understand the process now.
I went to the web site, and the store isn't ready yet. On the ebay store/link, I only see the pickits and adapters. Is there a link or page one can order the pixel controllers from?
Does the ECG-P2 (and E1.31) support 25 msec updates? I have never seen this specified, although have heard other configurations doing a 50 msec update.
True, but those don't really help me make my own pixel bulb. One can facet their own bezel, make a mold, and make a base. With these small all in one parts, the base can become reasonable size (small enough). Was making our own with separate led and 2801, but this makes the base become small...
I dont' know if anyone noticed, but Ray is offering a WS2811 integrated with a 5050 for around 15cents each in quantities of 100. For those of us who make our own pixels, I think this may be an interesting development.

edit: attempted to fix Links with no success
I use a Mac and haven't found a lot of native software for it related to this hobby. This is a fuzzy video (lost a lot in the down convert) of some software I wrote at DIYBlinky to visualize and play LOR lms files (we use LOR S3 to sequence, havent gotten around to writing one of those yet)...
Well both.
Say you had a small board/module that had the following (say we are doing standard DMX, we may change a bit for E1.31)
Hardware module:
1. 485 level convertor
2. PIC
3. RF-45 jack for connection
4. Two pins out for SPI or other standard interface
All this module does is...
