OK, I had done something stupid. I had flashed the master but not the slaves on my DR4. That is why the timeouts would not work (the slaves were still on firmware 1.3.0).
But with that solved, I could finally test to optimize the timeout value! I programmed xLights to only send packets when...
Phil, thanks so much for the response. The only weird thing is that I couldn't find a keep-alive value on the DR4 that would solve the issue. I guess I will have to do a little more testing this weekend.

I finally upgraded my DR4 to firmware 1.31a. I am testing a CCR operating in DMX mode connected to the DR4. I am using xLights to test. When I only send E1.31 UDP packets when the data changes (or once every 1/2 second, whichever is sooner), then it almost seems like the CCR is only seeing every...
Well Murphy must have been looking over my shoulder when I wrote that last post. We had a very strong squall blow through Houston tonight and everything held up my magnets came tumbling down. It was beautiful for two weeks, but I'll be trying a different technique next year.

I've attached my RGB strips to steel drip-edge. I've attached magnets to large office binder clips using exterior-rated double-sided tape. I just clip the binder clips to the eaves and then the drip edge just clings to the magnets. The highest eaves that are exposed to the most wind require 4...
Yeah, I was scared off by some of the postings in the LSP forums this year. So I decided to use LOR (was an Aurora user in 2009). I wrote and posted in the Aurora forums an Aurora to LOR export utility earlier in the year -- which I used to convert all of my 2009 sequences to LOR format. Wrote...
I'm using Hammond model 1554CGY enclosures purchased from Mouser. This is a sealed, nema-rated enclosure. The board fits nicely into the box, but the stand-offs are not in the right place. So I will use double sided tape to mount the board to the bottom of the box (and maybe a little hot glue...
Thanks again Phil! My garage floor is covered in RGB strip assemblies. Your Express Courier recommendation sounds fine. When you get the exact amount, please let me know and I will send the $ via Paypal.

That is great news Phil! If the "bits" you are soldering are the cables, you can skip that on my order and just toss the cables in the box. Also, I would be happy to pay for FedEx shipping on my order. Can you support that? Take care,
Matt
I've written xLights which will play any combination of LOR S2 and Vixen sequence files on any combination of DMX, Renard, D-Light, and LOR networks. And it runs on Windows, Linux, and OS/X 10.4 or later. An alpha version was released a couple of weeks ago. A beta should be ready by mid-October...
