I found programming the hardest bit to figure out. Not to much risk in damaging the relay if hooked up correctly. The biggest indicator is if you hear the 'click' when the relay is triggered. If its not triggering, its likely not programmed correctly. Have a look at these instructions to see...

You can do it any way you like. I have a number of props that i split over two ports, or even over two controllers. For this shape shifter, i have the first 600 on one port and the last 513 on the next port. Xlights is very configurable.
