Controller xLights settings to reduce future headaches

Yeah, I might think about adding these extra channels to the controllers that I may add to in coming years. As I have had to re-render a few times lately (61 sequences yesterday when I did it last), I've taken notice of the system resources whilst rendering. System memory is at about 60% usage...

Controller xLights settings to reduce future headaches

This is for anyone who finds this in the future (and probably me next year after I forget this) After discussing this in chat, the general consensus is to put the static, unchanged controllers at the top of the list (ie panels and for us the projector pi) and the pixel controllers at...

Controller xLights settings to reduce future headaches

The Problem: Small changes in pixel numbers on a controller causes knock-on effects to other outputs and other controllers. This causes the sequences to look all messed up. The Fix: Re-render and re-upload all the sequences to all the controllers. How this affects me: I have about 45 sequences...

Trouble with connecting to BBB/ HE123D over LAN and WIFI

Another note. We "blew up" one of our HE123v2 controllers coz we (not me) connected 12V into the 5V input for the controller power input. The controller no longer functions, but I took the BBB off and bench tested that briefly and it appears to still work.. so maybe double check this? I'm...

Trouble with connecting to BBB/ HE123D over LAN and WIFI

Hey, I too are having similar problems with my BBB connected to a HE123v1 controller. For me, the light on the network switch periodically flashes on and off again (stays of for a few seconds then off again for 5-10s).. is this the same for you also? Your problem may not be the same as mine...

2023 AusChristmasLighting Around the World sequence (ACLATW) - Sounds of Then (This is Australia) - Submit by 18 Dec 2023

The audio is very faint, but can be heard. There is talking over the top a little too, as I was going to edit the audio over the top myself, but haven't found appropriate software to do so.. any suggestions? I assume you use the audio that can be hard from our videos to match up the start of...

2023 AusChristmasLighting Around the World sequence (ACLATW) - Sounds of Then (This is Australia) - Submit by 18 Dec 2023

Hey, Thanks for the sequence.. I have taken a video of our display, do I need to edit the audio into it (you can't here it from the recording itself)? If so, what program do you's use to do so? Cheers Kimbo

    Not worth the effort

For the first couple years of our display we used cat5 or 6 (cant remember) for data only.. but ran multiple data through the same cable. This turned out to be a huge mistake and we ended up pulling it all back out and using shielded twin cable (1 cable for each data needed). Probably didnt need...

    Not worth the effort

Hey.. Sorry to hear about your problems.. Just to clarify.. are you wanting some help from people to get it going.. or are you just venting frustrations and over it in general? imo.. flashing when lights are not supposed to be on is usually a data issue (bad connection, element too far from...

Guidance on leds... Huge issues this year 😭

From my experience.. LED's stuck on a particular colour is due to no data signal (colour stuck from what ever signal it received previously).. and flashing LED's is probably due to a crappy data signal (normally from a bad connection or too long distance between controller and pixel - or pixel...

Answered Using commas for submodel magic

FYI.. the order of the pixels in the submodel also makes a difference depending on the render method during sequencing.. so pixels 4-8 can display differently to 8-4.

This year is just HoHoHoting me off!

Hey.. I feel your pain. This year we have added probably the least number of new lights to our display and had the most problems in total (some I will admit were our doing). Last night was our first night this year for blinky and 1 hour before turn on I had the same problem.. I couldnt access...
