Question I get is about my 8metre mega tree. Did you buy that from bunnings? Then when told no I built it and you can't actually buy them they ask if they can borrow my building diagrams so they can built them and sell them.
And of course the usual question of how big is your power bill.
It's...
After my misshap a few weeks ago I would suggest that over kill is better. Read my post "well it's up". Factor in the weight on top but also think about the prolonged effect this may have plus the wind aswell as heat. It may not bend straight away but it may after a few weeks
The local radio station gave me a shout out on Facebook. They have over 27thousand followers so how's that for exposure?
Also a photo my wife took while I was setting up. Safety First, no Molly's happening at my place.
have a look how I've done mine. its a lot more work and a bit pricey but it makes things so much better. There are two wires running from the rafters of the house the whole way forward and tied off at the front fence. the ends are set wider than the arches to prevent sideways movement.
After being hit with a heat wave and some severe winds on Monday i have some very sad news.
My mega tree melted. Yes thats right melted, the heat so intense the centre pole decided to bend in half, the base stayed on the ground while top was almost touching the ground. I have been away for work...
It does have a star. With 600 LEDs to make it twinkle. I really need some ideas for the rest of the yard, I've been so focused on this I've forgotten to plan the rest of the display
last year i made marty fans from bigW lights and pvc. they were 2metres wide and used 600 lights each. this year i have made mini trees they are 1.5 tall with 200 lights each.
after almost 6 hours, a serious sunburn and some creative language my mega tree is finally up. 8 metres tall and 3200 LEDs. Im making a star to go on top but that will have to wait for another day.
after reading a few posts about them changing i just opened up a few boxes that i bought last week to find out that bigW have changed to the 2 wire style. now that has really just made my day
After doing a test run last night I've noticed that one of my LED strings has partly burned out and has gone dull. It was slightly sentimental due to it being one of the first sets I bought 5 years ago. But I guess it's an excuse just to go buy more
You can buy gutter clips from bunnings. usually a pack of 20. thats where mine from last year. they aren't overly strong so spacing can't be huge, keeping that in mind they worked great with my icicles.
as far as over length goes, you can either hide it or you can fold it back on itself and...
I've only done a quick sample using some 2 inch corogated water pipe that I had laying around. Slightly white in color. It gave me a general of what it will look like. Not sure if I like the hot spot but from a distance it really not that noticable. It will be a 8 metre mega tree with 32...
