Thanks for the suggestion. I will try it later if nobody else comes with another alternative. I looked up again closer to the light strings and I found that 4 out of the 5 wires run in paralel to the led string, (2 of which are only for forward power to another string for extentsion purposes)...

Yes, there are 5 wires going to the lights and 2 are the main 240v AC power in. So 7 wires in total.
