Hi my old 14 year old switch has died and I need a recommendation for a 16 port switch. I think the minimum speed these days is 1GB, but am looking for a recommendation from the community.

Doing a quick google search and they talk about managed and managed switches, so I'm a bit confused as it has been a while.
cheers

I'd recommend just a plain unmanaged tp link 16 port switch.

An alternative could be a similar Netgear switch. I alternate between the two brands depending on price at time of purchase.

Mate,

For home use, you don't need to spend big on a managed switch. A gigabit unmanaged switch will do the trick. TP-Link and Netgear both have decent options that won't break the bank. Just check how many ports you need - 16 is a good start, but you might want to go higher if you're planning on expanding your setup later on!

We have used Netgear for years. This year, due to sizing constraints in the new boxes, I've had to switch to a physically smaller TP-Link, though they have the same # of unmanaged ports. Both are working very well.
