Hello everyone,
My name is Jeeno and I’m from Lynbrook (3975). I’m hoping to set up a pixel tree this year, but I’m not sure where to begin. I don’t have any background in electrical or electronics. I visited a few local Christmas displays last year and they were amazing, which inspired me to learn and get involved. I’d really appreciate any advice, beginner tips, or guidance on how to get started.

How big of a tree? There are tons of ways that work, so knowing how big of a tree is probably where you'd begin.

Minimum 3 meters long with 50 bullet pixels.

Check out the megatree database of previous builds form members to get an idea of sizes and materials used

Do you have the bullets? I would go seed for a new mega tree. You can get more density in both directions. 3 meters is nice length to start with.

If you go 50x16 (pretty standard size from a few years ago), you can do it easily with a 2 port controller. So almost any controller to start with. A Baldrick would give you good starting place. If you go higher density, divide the total number of pixels by 680 and start looking for that number of ports.
