8 Bit RGB Pixels

Yes i had discussions with Ray yesterday in providing the 8 bit pixel with the WS2801 chip. Only thing is i asked that the cable was UV protected, so ill have a chat with Ray and see if this cable is OK.
He also has the D705 IC chip, but im unsure of the specs of that IC, im sure phil or tabor will pipe in on the specs of that IC chip

Look like the ones Ray has on his website are not the UV rated ones. From my discussions the UV units use black cable and cost around USD.70c a node.

I have spoken to a different supplier and I have 100 of the WS2801 UV Rated pixels on there way to me now.
They were unable to supply a decoder for the strings at the moment. This should not be a problem by the time they arrive.

As for the D705 based Leds they are only 5bit per colour.

Tim

That will control it, but there is no DMX input on that.

I have seen the controllers, I just cant get them.

Ray now also has the WS2801 pixels with the UV rated cables (the pictures dont show this)

There is also 12 bit pixels in the 3005 IC and there is a good selection of different pixels and modules available from Ray at http://www.aliexpress.com/fm-store/701799/209889132/LED-Modules.html

The only issue at the moment with the 3005IC is that there is no direct DMX control for these, Phil and Tabor will investigate to see if supporting this will be feasable.

Tabor - will you be using the WS2801's in your display this year?

Yes

The majority will be the 2801's, i also plan on using some 6803's and 3005's.

Then I guess it would be "safe" to order any of those pixel types seeing how you are the firmware guy on the protocol bridge?

All the protocols will be built into the one version of firmware.

The board has jumpers for mode required.

It will also be possible to set with software config tool.

Hello Neil

If you are happy with this, then the planned features for this board are going to blow you away.

So Tabor how did the board work out and do suggest any particular spacing for the pixels if we used them for a display panel?
